Kat Rodriguez, a New York native, began her classical training at 13 under the direction of Nancy Turano with the New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble. There, she had the privilege of training in ballet and modern with Lenore Pavlakos-Morales, Sidra Bell, Andrea Miller, Bradley Shelver, and more. At 17, she put a hold on dance to pursue some of her other creative writing interests at West Virginia University. Here, she had been awarded an academic scholarship for the School of Journalism, but quickly found herself wanting to return to dance, and did so at 23.
She was accepted to the Professional Semester at Broadway Dance Center where she concentrated on Ballet and Hip Hop. She is fascinated and focused on finding a unique union of the two styles under her mentor, Phil Orsano of Complexions Contemporary Ballet. Kat is thrilled to be an apprentice of VALLETO where she believes the true artistry of dance is embodied.
