Selina Shida

Selina Shida Hack born and raised in Queens, New York. She began her dance training at the Professional Performing Arts School/The Ailey School where she performed works by Adrienne Hurd, Pedro Ruiz, Tina Bush, and Lisa Attles. She went on to graduate Cum Laude with a BFA in Dance Performance from SUNY Purchase with a minor in Arts Management, where she performed works by Kimberly Bartosik, Sidra Bell, Martha Graham, Manuel Vignouelle, and Kate Wallich. While at Purchase, Selina was chosen to study abroad for a semester at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Hong Kong where she studied under Christine Gouzelis, Pewan Chow, Tasha Wong, and performed a work by Jaime Redfern.
Through her freelance work, Selina was selected to be featured in the music video "Stereotypes" by Black Violin in 2015 and "Everybody's Lonely" by Jukebox the Ghost in 2018. Selina has danced for companies such as, Zest Collective and Nomad Contemporary Ballet; most recently, Selina completed her first international tour with Gaspard & Dancers to Siberia, Russia. Selina is currently dancing as a company dancer for VALLETO and GASPARD & DANCERS as well as freelancing.
