Abi Elliott

DANCER (US)

2-13

Abi Elliott began her dance training at Allegro Dance Theater in Radcliff, Kentucky, before expanding her studies at the Kentucky Center Governor’s School for the Arts in 2011. Her exposure to contemporary forms and experience with interdisciplinary collaboration at GSA led her to pursue a BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

During her time at UIUC, Abi participated in Dance at Illinois’ Shadow Program with the Mark Morris Dance Group and appeared in works by Tere O’Connor, Rebecca Nettl-Fiol, Endalyn Taylor, and Abby Zbikowski. Invested in serving the community that sparked her passion for movement, Abi returned to Kentucky to serve as the Dance Discipline Assistant at GSA for two consecutive summers and danced with Louisville’s Moving Collective during their 2017-2018 season.

She also premiered her own self-choreographed solo, “Shifted, Shift, Shifting,” through the JELLO Performance Series at Links Hall in Chicago, Illinois, which was later accepted and performed at RadFest in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and the Louisville Dance Series in the spring of 2019. Abi most recently participated in projects with Kentucky based artists Theresa Bautista and Katie Kasari, and she continues to teach, choreograph, and perform in the Louisville region.

“During a time that feels as if the rest of the world is standing still, VALLETO has fostered a community of artists who have challenged me to continue pushing forward despite all perceived limitations - this powerful group of women has reignited my passion to connect with others through movement, and I can't wait to see what this season has in store for all of us."
