Lorena Perez

Born and raised in Costa Rica, Lorena Pérez Sanchez has trained in multiple dance styles including contemporary, modern, ballet, tap, and jazz. She has performed in a variety of national and international venues from television to non-profit events, such as Nigel Lythgoe’s Dizzy Feet Foundation in Los Angeles. Lorena has around nine years of experience teaching contemporary, tap and jazz and has choreographed multiple works for various studios around her country. Moreover, she has appeared in several opening numbers in the show Dancing with the Stars, Costa Rica and has acted and danced in episodes for T.V. Show Dele Viaje. In 2015, she landed the role of a ‘Jet Girl’ Minnie in West Side Story, which was the first Broadway musical in Costa Rica. After graduating from College, earning a BA degree with high honors in Business Administration from Universidad de Costa Rica, Lorena traveled to NYC to partake in Broadway Dance Center’s International Student Visa Program. During her studies at BDC, she performed works such as Estado Ingravitto by choreographer Ashlé Dawson.
Lorena recently graduated from the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts, acquiring her MFA degree in dance. As a former member of the Second Avenue Dance Company, she performed works such as “Grace” by choreographer Ronald K Brown and choreographed her own works: Amicizia, Novaturient and Unchained. She also performed in choreographer Pam Pietro’s original work “Pro-ceed, Pro-gress”, as well as in multiple works of her peers. While her studies at NYU, Lorena worked as a sound engineer at Tisch Dance and was one of the dancers selected to perform Ron K Brown’s “Grace” at Radio City Music Hall. She is currently a member of the Young Adult Music choir, directed by Joey Chancey.
