Nicole Gerkey is a freelance dancer and choreographer from Detroit, Michigan. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Dance with a Minor in Theatre from Wayne State University. While in attendance at WSU, Nicole was able to perform various modern and contemporary works by Biba Bell, Meg Paul, Molly Shanahan (Mad Shak), and others.
She was also involved in multiple theatre productions, taking direction from Lavinia Hart, Michael Barnes, and Blair Anderson. After college, Nicole moved to San Francisco and had the pleasure of choreographing her own work at LEVYSalon, performed with Caroline Liviakis Dance Company in film and concert dance projects, and worked with other local Bay Area choreographers, including Mogli’s Movers. Nicole is currently enrolled in Broadway Dance Center’s Fall Program, and is thrilled to be an assistant with VALLETO’s virtual season.
“Working with VALLETO has been an immense pleasure. Not only are the dancers incredibly talented, but they bring their whole hearts and bare their souls in each rehearsal, creating a strong community of women who work hard to be vulnerable. This art is so beautiful, and this connection warms my soul. I am so grateful to be part of this incredible company.”
